RONDO 1 Building Complex, Warsaw, Poland
Optimal PERI formwork solution providing complete safety and fast construction progress
The RONDO 1 construction project in Warsaw is representative for the ambitious course of development which Poland is currently following in order to become a successful member of the European Union. The high-rise building, complete with auxiliary structures and underground parking facilities, was designed by the AZO firm of architects together with Owings & Merill. Upon completion, the building will provide the Warsaw financial centre with a new, exciting image and offer future tenants office space of the highest standard. The 40-storey main structure, with a height of 194 metres, is due to be finished at the end of 2005. Architectural highlights of the office block are three external, transparent elevator cores which contain a total of 18 lifts as well as the so-called sky bridges which serve as access points to the various levels.
One of the most important factors which influences the cost-effectiveness for the implementation of projects this size is matching the construction method to the design of the structure.
The contractors, HOCHTIEF Polska Sp. Z. o.o., decided in favour a PERI formwork and scaffolding solution. Experienced application technology engineers came up with a very clear-cut concept utilising the PERI ACS self- climbing technology for the constructively-braced building cores and retaining walls as well as using the aluminium PERI SKYDECK panel slab formwork for constructing the massive slabs. SRS circular column formwork for the reinforced concrete columns together with PERI CPP, as combined climbable guardrail and building enclosure system the rounded off the customised formwork package.
