Detailed Planning and Skilful Implementation
Load-Bearing Building Structures with Architecturally-
Designed Fair-Faced Concrete Surfaces

North of Leipzig, the BMW Group have one of the most modern car factories in the world.
At the beginning of 2005, the 5,500 workforce will be producing up to 650 vehicles per day – models from the BMW 3 range. The central building connects the car body production hall, paint shop and assembly facility. It is also the main entrance to the plant and accommodates office and communication areas, staff restaurant, different laboratories and workshops.

The high quality demands on the concrete surfaces as well as the sophisticated geometry of the building required a formwork system which still allowed individual adjustments. After the wall planning was completed, special VARIO GT 24 elements were pre-assembled and brought to the site. In seven months, wall areas totalling 35,000 m² with heights up to 18 m were formed, using selfcompacting concrete.
