New for the edges of bridges:
Platform system for cantilevered parapets
increases quality and safety
Removing the bottleneck on the Rheinhafenstrasse, corner of Honsellstrasse, with several railway level crossings required the construction of a curved
250 m long bridge. The double web structure has alternating transverse and longitudinal inclinations over its length. Cantilevered parapets
(390 x 550 mm) on both sides proved to be especially difficult to form. There were also existing overhead electricity lines to be protected with 1.40 m wide cantilevered protection slabs.
The site used the GKB platform system for the cantilevered parapet formwork, planned by PERI. With 23 units that were delivered preassembled and ready for immediate use, the site easily constructed the six concreting sections on each side.
As the platforms and formwork are to be moved as one unit, valuable time and crane capacity was saved. The precise adjustment of the formwork could be quickly made on the comfortable platforms through easily adjusted
spindles.
