ACS climbing units enclose circular offi ce towers
Like two circular columns, the two towers of the new office complex near Gibraltar rise to a height of 100 m. 21 floors have been allocated as office facilities whilst the top 16 m is exclusively the facade. Over the entire height, oversized letters integrated into the concrete facade symbolize the inscription “Non plus ultra”.
For construction of the 40 cm thick concrete wall with a 25 m external radius, the VARIO GT 24 girder wall formwork was climbed in each case on 12 ACS self-climbing platforms. For this, the ACS G brackets (G = gallows) were radially attached at an angle of 15° to the outside of the reinforced concrete columns. Internal and external formwork were connected via gallows to the ACS and could be easily moved and set up through the use of rails. The climbing procedure took place regardless of weather conditions and without the use of a crane, with the help of the proven ACS 100 climbing device.
The GRIDFLEX aluminium grid slab formwork ideally supplemented the PERI formwork concept. As a result, the 40 cm thick floor slabs could be realised quickly, safely and in high quality. The systematic setting procedure with lightweight aluminum elements ensured fast shuttering times, and installation of the freely selectable formlining subsequently took place safely on the accessible grid elements. For flexible adaptation to the circular walls, telescopic GRIDFLEX filler elements were available.

“Without the PERI ACS self-climbing technology, this project would not have been possible. It is a fantastic, absolutely safe system. Furthermore, cooperation with PERI is always exemplary.”
