Luesslingen Tunnel, Solothurn, Switzerland
First monolithically constructed tunnel in Switzerland
The 1,240 m long structure, with a road tunnel in each direction and a central service duct, was cast monolithically in 10 m sections. Base, walls and roof were poured in a single operation.
Advantage: The elimination of horizontal construction joints.
All of the shuttering operations, such as erection, adjustment, moving and striking, were fully hydraulic. The ACS 100 climbing mechanism, from PERI´s Automatic Climbing System, was used to move the guide beams. It proved possible to maintain the consortium´s stipulated weekly cycle right from the outset.
