Structural work in record time

On the shore of the Neusiedler Lake stands an extraordinary thermal bath facility with an adjoining four-star hotel - the complex structure was realised in a record-breaking short construction time. Then, the concrete frame of the spiral-shaped building had to be completely finished in only nine months.

For the floor slabs with thicknesses of up to 55 cm and 5 m ceiling heights, the construction crew used the lightweight aluminium SKYDECK panel slab formwork with dropheads. This accelerated the materials handling and reduced on-site material requirements. Support was provided by MULTIPROP aluminium slab props which have a high load-bearing capacity in spite of their low weight.

In the area of the building core, PERI UP modular scaffolding was used. Combined with HD 200 heavy-duty props, the contractor received an appropriate load-bearing system for constructing the up to 7 m high wall sections at heights of up to 16 metres. 40 kN per PERI UP leg could be safely transferred. For high load concentrations, several standards were bundled together using short 25-centimetre long ledgers to form additional frames. For this, no timeconsuming mounting of scaffold tubes and couplers was necessary as PERI UP has a modular structure and metric grid arrangement. The construction crew not only used PERI UP as shoring but also for a range of other tasks: as crane-movable working and reinforcement scaffold for forming, reinforcing and concreting the high walls as well as scaffold stair towers which provided access to the higher-positioned working areas.

    Supervisor

“The PERI UP load-bearing system is impressive through its low individual component weights and high stability. Through this, we achieve fast assembly times as well as being able to move complete scaffold units by crane. The decision in favour of SKYDECK and RUNDFLEX was also right. Both are simple and flexible systems with which even diffi cult ground plans can be realised with little time and effort.”
