Bellevue Towers, Bellevue, Washington, USA
Safe and crane-independent in 6-day cycles
The Bellevue Towers residential project near Seattle comprises of two 137-metre high towers: the north and south towers with 42 and 43 floors respectively. For a comprehensive formwork solution, the ACS and RCS climbing formwork systems, along with VARIO for the walls and SKYDECK for the slabs were carefully matched. Due to the stringent system-related safety levels and the complete enclosure of the upper stories, construction work could be carried out in an extremely safe manner which resulted in faster building progress.
The 3.12 m high walls of the reinforced concrete core and the floor slabs of both towers were concreted in one pour. This shortened the cycle times and minimized the reinforcement work. For this, the ACS self-climbing system and the modular RCS rail climbing system worked on the building cores simultaneously and without the need of a crane. While the VARIO wall formwork and the central placing boom in the inner shafts were moved with the help of three ACS self-climbing units, the RCS construction kit system served as the formwork scaffolding for the core exteriors.
In order to ensure high labour productivity and safety, also during the forming of the slabs at large heights, the PERI RCS climbing protection panel completely enclosed the building’s perimeter of the top three stories at the same time. In addition to providing a safety barrier against falling, reliable protection against wind and weather was also provided.

“The RCS protective system offers a secure safety factor that takes away the fear of heights that some or our carpenters may have. You don’t realize the current height that you are working on since you are enclosed by the system. This is a plus for us. The service provided by PERI is extremely helpful and always able to resolve any problems we may encounter. The delivery of the equipment is right on time.”
