System solution for slabs and parapets: SKYDECK and FTF
On the former site of the Austrian State Printing House, a new hotel and office complex was developed. The hotel consists of eight upper floors and four basement levels. This accommodates 267 rooms and 43 suites, various meeting and conference rooms, restaurant, bar as well as a fitness centre. The office tract is separated from the hotel by a building expansion joint and, above the garage area, a service floor, the entrance hall and an additional six upper floors are situated. Around the centrallyarranged staircase core, the surrounding open-plan office is incorporated.
A cut-and-cover method was used for the basement levels and the TRIO Alu wall formwork ensured fast construction progress here. Due to the low dead weight and simple handling, the best-possible shuttering times were achieved even without any crane support. For the massive upper floors of the hotel, large-area transportable units could be formed with TRIO 330 which saved both time and costs. The shear walls of the exterior were efficiently constructed with TRIO on FB 180 folding platforms as formwork scaffolding in regular concreting cycles of up to 3.25 m.
Also the decision to form the slabs with SKYDECK contributed to a quick and smoothly building progress. Through the drophead system, striking could take place after only two days which meant girders and panels were immediately available for the next cycle again. With FTF facade formwork, the edge pre-fabricated elements for the next storey could be safely installed, aligned and - until finally embedded into the hardened concrete slab - reliably fixed.

“SKYDECK with its drophead system, in connection with edge beams on FTF consoles, was the best solution for the offi ce tract.”
