150 m² slab table moved in 3 minutes

The Minto Midtown complex consists of two residential towers which are arranged around a 930 m² landscaped courtyard. The 118 m high Quantum South Tower includes 38 fl oors with business and exclusive apartments. Working closely with the contractor, a comprehensive formwork concept was developed in order to maintain the tight construction schedule.

With the two wall formwork systems, TRIO and VARIO, structural as well as architectural requirements could cost-effectively be fulfilled. For construction of the reinforced concrete core, the ACS self-climbing system was the first choice so that forming, concreting and cimbing could be carried out without any crane support and regardless of wind and weather conditions.

The SKYDECK system provided considerable time advantages for constructing the slabs of the lowest three floors as well as parking decks, and for supporting thicker slabs, the MULTIPROP aluminium post shores were connected with MRK frames to form load-bearing shoring towers.

The reinforced concrete slabs of the upper floors were formed using large-sized SKYTABLE slab tables. Up to 150 m² of slab formwork could be moved in a single crane pick. Already during assembly of the trusses, simple pin and cotter pin connections made time-consuming bolt fastenings unnecessary.

After the concrete had set, relieving the load on the MULTIPROP post shores of the tables was achieved without any great effort by means of the quick release device. Then the table was pulled horizontally out of the building by the crane - through the transfer of force - with the help of the lifting carriage and rear carriage. No workers are required to walk on the suspended table which means increased safety levels and accelerates the moving process. Site personnel only required three minutes to fly individual slab tables, from attaching lifting gear to the crane up to final positioning in the next section. This brought enormous time advantages.

“This is my first experience with PERI and I am glad we used them. The SKYTABLE is the safest and most efficient slab table system. No workers are needed to push the table to the slab edge, the winch does it all. The speed in which we could fly this table was important as we needed to have police stop traffic on Yonge Street for the West face tables.”
